Why Stem?

STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, is more than a set of subjects. It’s the foundation for problem-solving, innovation, and the careers of the future. In a rapidly changing world, STEM skills are essential. They teach students how to think critically, adapt, create, and lead. From everyday problem-solving to breakthrough discoveries, STEM empowers young minds to shape their communities and the world. But too often, students are left behind because they see STEM as too hard or too disconnected from real life. That’s where we come in.

At STEM Beyond the Walls, we bring STEM to life through interactive games, mobile learning units, and hands-on experiences. We make learning fun, remove the fear, and show every child they belong in STEM, no matter their background. Because when children believe they can, they will. And that’s the power of STEM.
algebra
Algebra helps us understand relationships between variables and solve equations. It’s used in:

-
Budgeting and finance (e.g., calculating interest, managing expenses)
-
Engineering (e.g., designing systems that meet specific requirements)
-
Computer programming (e.g., using variables and logic to write code)
geometry
Geometry deals with shapes, sizes, and spatial relationships. It’s essential in:

-
Architecture and construction (e.g., designing buildings and bridges)
-
Art and design (e.g., creating patterns, perspectives, and proportions)
-
Robotics and manufacturing (e.g., modeling 3D objects and movement)
Calculus
Calculus focuses on change over time and helps model complex systems. It’s applied in:

-
Physics and engineering (e.g., analyzing motion, heat, and waves)
-
Medicine (e.g., modeling the growth of tumors or spread of disease)
-
Economics (e.g., optimizing profit and analyzing trends)
